My first pattern!

So I am going to be using this blog to share my knitting and crocheting works. This is what I love to do! However, I had yet to try to produce a pattern of my own. So I decided to try and thus I came up with jessy's bucket hat! Enjoy!!



Jessys bucket hat


Hat is worked flat and then seamed before crocheting the brim

Size 5 needles (either straights or on a cable)
With size 5 needles
Cast on 96 stitches
Make a knit 2 purl 2 rib for 1 1/2 inches
On last row of k2 p2 rib increase one stitch at the end of the row.

Row 1 (right side)- k1 *yo ssk k1 repeat from * to end of row

Row 2 (wrong side)- k1 *yo p2tog k1 repeat from * to end of row

Repeat rows 1 and 2 till piece measures 5 inches total.

Decreases:

On any decrease rows there may he left over stitches to which you cannot complete the pattern decrease- just knit these stitches.

1) (right side) K6 k2tog across
2) purl
3) k5 k2tog across
4) purl
5) k4 k2tog across
6) purl
7) k3 k2tog across
8) purl
9) k2 k2tog across
10) purl
11) k1 k2tog across
12) purl
13) k2tog across
14) p2tog across

Cut yarn with a long tail. Thread it on a needle and pull through live stitches. Pull tight and secure do not cut! Then use this yarn to sew up the seam. Secure yarn sew in ends.

Using a size E crochet hook
1) starting at the seam, sc around the bottom edge of hat (approximately 96 sc's) sl st to first sc
2) ch 1, 2sc's in each sc around sl st to first sc of this round
3) ch 1, sc around sl st to first sc of this round
4) ch 2, dc in each sc around
5) sc around

Cut yarn and secure. Sew in ends.
